UICers' fantastic off-class life

What do UIC students do in their spare time? Photographing, bird watching, singing, dancing, exercising, volunteering, cooking...... UICers' after-school life is full of fun and sweet memories.

Capture wonderful moments with a camera – Chen Yuanxi, fourth-year student, Marketing Management (MKT) Programme

Registered successfully with a cross-major elective course, Principles in Photo Imaging, Chen systematically learned professional photography knowledge and skills. Besides recording daily life, he combined his passion for photography with his marketing knowledge to produce advertising videos during his internships. "Photography teaches me to catch the beauty of life."

Immersed in nature – Zhang Jiaqi, third-year student, Finance (FIN) Programme

Zhang Jiaqi is a nature lover and joined the UIC bird-watching team as a student assistant after learning it from the Environmental Awareness course. "The memory of observing birds with binoculars for the first time carved in my brain," Zhang said. "Every feather is so clear and vivid." She hopes to motivate more students to protect nature.

Liberate the passion for music – Ji Pengyu, second-year student, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Programme

Ji Pengyu is fond of music. He and his friends often play music at UIC after class. As a member of the UIC iMusic band, he often performs in UIC's music festivals and other activities. "My college life is snuffed with the aroma of music," he said. He also participated in behind-the-scenes work, like planning and organising events.

Heart dance with youth – Ma Yunqi, second-year student, Public Relations and Advertising (PRA) Programme

Ma enjoys the harmonious, tolerant, and loving atmosphere of UIC's clubs so much that she spends most of her spare time participating in club events. "Being with my teammates helps me relax," Ma said. "The experiences of rehearsing and dining with UIC CREW's members are my precious memories."

Running with a frisbee towards friends – Zeng Zhexin, third-year student, English Language and Literature Studies (ELLS) Programme

In addition to bodybuilding, making good friends is another reason for Zeng Zhexi to fall for the Frisbee game. He and his team have participated in off-campus competitions, and he now coaches the UIC Ultimate Frisbee Club. "There are many sports activities for students to experience at UIC. I hope more can enjoy the fun of exercise."

Devote herself to public welfare – Zou Tong, third-year student, Media Arts and Design (MAD) Programme

Zou learned that volunteering requires a scientific and sustainable approach in the Voluntary Service course. Therefore, she joined the United Innovation Charity Club to solve children's dropout issues in low-income families after class. "Concerning the public welfare makes my life meaningful. College students can make our society better."

Healing from sharing – Li Xiaoran, second-year student, Marketing Management (MKT) Programme

Li Xiaoran once joined a baking event held by the Body-Mind-Self Club (BMS) of the Student Affairs Office, initiating her interest in the bakery and relieving her stress. She then joined the club and designed a new backing course independently. "I hope my schoolmates can also feel relaxed while cooking."

Life in UIC is colourful and rich. Activities can help students uncover their potential in different fields. Stay curious and develop as a whole person.
