UIC students achieved great success in the 2022 Guangdong “Higher Education Press Cup” short video contest in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), winning one grand prize, three first prizes and two second prizes.
The contest aims to encourage college students to present individual observations and thinking, and give full play to their language and visual literacy. In the meantime, telling Chinese cultural stories of the GBA in English can enhance the world’s understanding of GBA and promote traditional Chinese culture.
Guided by five UIC English Language Centre (ELC) teachers, ten teams with a total of 32 UIC students from different majors participated in the contest. Most of the students don’t major in English, reflecting UIC students’ high standard of overall English competence.
In the final round, the contestants had to present their work in English regarding the theme, story idea, creativity, shooting process, contemporary value and the significance of promotion, etc.
