FBM obtains full membership in EFMD

Published on 18 June 2024

UIC's Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) has received an official notification from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). After a thorough review by the EFMD Assessment Committee, FBM has been approved to join the ranks as a full member of EFMD.

EFMD was established in 1972. It is a global, non-profit, membership-based organisation dedicated to the development of management education. It is widely recognised as an accrediting body for business schools, business school programmes, and corporate universities. EFMD has a total of 983 member organisations across 92 countries worldwide, including 62 member business schools in China.

The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), developed by EFMD, is an international quality accreditation system targeting business schools. It is one of the most rigorous quality accreditation systems in Europe and is recognised as one of the three most authoritative business school accreditations worldwide. The system values the diversity of course formats and the internationalisation of institutions, advocates for close ties between higher management education institutions and the business community, and aims to maintain a balance between professional theoretical knowledge and business practice.

Becoming a full member of EFMD signifies that FBM now qualifies to apply for EQUIS accreditation, marking an outstanding step in the Faculty's internationalisation.
