UIC has once again become a beacon of intellectual exchange this semester. From March to May 2024, the campus witnessed an array of distinguished lectures and High Table Dinners featuring scholars and professionals from various fields.

In March, Prof Meng Jian from Fudan University's School of Journalism delivered UIC's 8th distinguished lecture on Liberal Arts Education. His insightful talk, "The Coming of An Era of Visual Culture Communication," marked the beginning of an intellectually stimulating season.

Following closely, President S. Joe Qin from Lingnan University in Hong Kong graced UIC with his presence. As the Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science, he enlightened teachers and students about "A New Era of Data Science and AI".

April saw a historic event as UIC co-hosted its first-ever High Table Dinner with Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). This marked another milestone in fostering collaboration between these two esteemed institutions.

Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) at HKBU addressed subsequent high table dinners throughout April and May. He spoke about "Challenges to Higher Education: The Role of General Education."

Other luminaries included:

Mr Shen Guofang, former spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador of China to the United Nations, was invited to speak;

Prof Ceri Sherlock, Artistic Advisor of Chung Ying Theatre in Hong Kong, gave a speech entitled "In praise of 'liveness'";

and President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mr Leung Sze Kit, spoke at the Dinner.
