UIC students have proven their exceptional talent and skills in various fields, sweeping numerous awards in several prestigious national and international competitions.
At the 17th Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition, two student teams from UIC's Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) won second prizes at the national level. In the 2024 Guangdong Province University Computer Design Competition, students from FST won one first prize, one second prize, and two third prizes, areas covering the practice of artificial intelligence and digital media game and interaction design.
The Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition is a nationwide event co-hosted by the discipline teaching instructions committees supervised by the Ministry of Education. It is one of the competitions recommended by the China Association of Higher Education.
In addition, the results of the 16th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students were also announced. Students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) won a national third prize. At the Guangdong Provincial competition, students from FHSS, the School of Culture and Creativity (SCC) and the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) collectively won one first prize, three second prizes, and three third prizes. Their designs included advertising videos, planning cases, and advertising copy.
The National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students is a national-level competition with high participation from teachers and students, high-quality works, and significant social impact.
At the 12th National College Digital Art and Design Awards Guangdong Provincial competition, three groups of students from SCC won third prizes. The National College Digital Art and Design Awards are recommended by the China Association of Higher Education as well. It is a high-level well-known discipline competition in the field of art design and an important platform for college students to participate in design innovation activities.
At the 6th Hong Kong Contemporary Design Award competition, a second-year student from SCC won a bronze award. The Hong Kong Contemporary Design Award, hosted by the Hong Kong Art and Design Association, aims to discover and encourage emerging design talents, including college students and young designers.
The FHSS students also excelled at the global academic platforms, where two students together won the Best Student Paper Award from the 2024 International Conference on Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE 2024); one won an Excellent Paper Award at the 13th International Conference on Educational and Information Technology (ICEIT 2024); one won a second prize in the undergraduate group in the 16th National Social Work Student Forum of China and the 9th Social Work Graduate Student Forum; and one won a third prize for an excellent paper at the 15th Annual Meeting of the Educational Linguistics Professional Committee of the China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese.
At the 2024 National Higher Education Institutions Health Qigong Championship, UIC won numerous honours. The team won a first prize in the nation in the Ba Duan Jin, and a third prize in the Tai Chi Cane group competition. At the individual competitions, they brought home a first prize with a bronze medal, and three second prizes in the Five Animals Play, Tai Chi Cane, and Ba Duan Jin. The team also won the "Moral Award".
