During the talk, Prof Fan discussed the integration of big data and AI in the digital economy. He highlighted the importance of transforming big data into "intelligent data" to understand socio-economic trends and support decision-making better.

He presented three case studies to support the idea: using multi-source data for housing market analysis, an innovative model for detecting financial fraud, and sentiment analysis in financial news for investment strategies. He emphasised that future research will continue exploring the deep integration of statistics and AI, which will drive digital economic innovations.

After the lecture, Prof Fan engaged in a lively Q&A session, addressing frontier topics in statistical intelligence and offering advice on academic and career development.
