Organised by UIC and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), fifteen students and teachers from seven countries embarked on a five-day Chengdu study tour, immersing themselves in the wonders of Ancient Shu civilisation.

The journey was mainly participated by students from the Extended Study Programme (ESP), blended cultural exploration with hands-on experiences, fostering cross-cultural understanding and providing students with opportunities to experience China's development and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Participants marvelled at the Sichuan opera's famous face-changing performance during a live session at Jinjiang Theatre. At the Sanxingdui Museum, they unveiled the mystery of Ancient Shu culture through expert commentary by a Sichuan University historian. The group also visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, expanding their knowledge of China's "living fossils" and beloved national treasure.

For further exploration, they toured iconic landmarks such as the Wuhou Shrine and Wenshu Monastery. At Sichuan University, they also engaged in folk art workshops instructed by master artisans, learning traditional crafts like paper cutting, rope weaving, and carving.
This immersive journey offered participants a profound understanding of Chinese heritage while enriching their cultural appreciation, creating lasting memories of traditional Chinese culture.

The ESP is a collaborative initiative between UIC and HKBU under the "One University, Two Campuses" framework. It encourages student exchanges and enhances mutual learning, fostering a deeper connection between students from both regions and beyond.
