Abeni Zhang, a Cinema and Television graduate of 2016, captured the China-EU Best New Filmmaker Award at the China-EU Youth Film Festival on 12 October. Her winning production, The Green Years, was her graduation project, which focused on the tradition of “walking marriages” in Yunnan Province.
Abeni also represented the participants in speaking to the audience of her ideas on the film at the opening ceremony at the INSAS in Brussels, Belgium.
Aiming at boosting mutual understanding and friendship between the youth of China and Europe, the Festival was held by the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union and the China Cultural Centre in Brussels.
