Brain changes in addicts

Prof Timothy Parker, Visiting Professor to UIC’s Division of Science and Technology, provided a brief survey of the key changes that occur in the brain as a person progresses through the stages of drug abuse for the UIC audience on 3 December. His talk focused on the relatively long-lasting brain changes that make the user susceptible to recidivism, and that are likely to produce significant cognitive impairments.
