As the first joint venture between a mainland and a Hong Kong academic institution, the all-English instructions and whole-person approach towards education attracted the greatest attention from the media. Journalists doing on-site visits had the opportunity of witnessing a rare human touch at UIC - the Executive Vice-President Prof. Kwok serving ginseng tea to students who were taking end-of-term examinations at the time.
