The UIC Health Qigong Team achieved excellent results in a Health Qigong competition of Guangdong province, which was held on 5-6 December. UIC Team won the first prizes in two team competitions of Qigong exercises, which are Five-Animal Exercises and Baduanjin Exercise.

Among the Health Qigong Team, two Year 3 students, Xin Shengyang and Zhang Wenbo, majoring in Statistics and Applied Psychology respectively, won the first place in two different events, while Year 2 student Sun Yiyun, majoring in Accounting, and another Year 3 student Weng Huizhong, majoring in Cinema and Television, won the second place and fourth place respectively in two other events.

As an important part of Chinese traditional culture, health Qigong evolved from conventional Chinese Qigong techniques. Since 2014, UIC has taken Health Qigong as an elective course in physical education. UIC Health Qigong Team was established in 2015 and has gained success in many large-scale health Qigong competitions, such as national and provincial competitions.
