On 23 September, UIC held a welcome party. Students gave fantastic performances for new arrivals. The show was simultaneously broadcasted using 5G+VR technology.

There were various performances, including songs, dances, cross-talk, and Chinese shadow puppetry
At the beginning of the party, President of UIC and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof Tang Tao, delivered a speech. In his speech, he encouraged students to actively participate in after-class activities, develop leadership skills, and progress toward their goals while learning professional knowledge.

UIC has a unique hall culture. During the orientation time, various hall activities are arranged to help first-year students blend into university life. Wardens of the halls expressed their welcome.

Before the party, President Tang, Party Secretary and Vice President (Administration), Professor Mao Yaqing; Managing Director for Finance and Administration, Mr Nelson Chan; Dean of the Division of Business and Management (DBM), Prof Liu Wenbin; Dean of the Division of Science and Technology (DST), Prof Pan Jianxin; Dean of the Dean of Culture and Creativity (DCC), Prof Holger Briel; as well as several heads of administrative units, wardens, staffs paid a visit to the dormitories of first-year students and sent gifts to for encouragement. This visit aimed to learn about new students' adapting to the new environment.
