Students lunch with senior management as UIC tradition

Published on 4 November 2021

Fourteen students from different programmes and grades were invited to lunch with UIC Provost Prof Chen Zhi and Chief Student Affairs Officer Prof Johnston Wong on 22 October.

The lunch meetings have become a tradition at UIC, facilitating dialogues between students and the senior management. Students are encouraged to raise questions and open discussions on the table, says Prof Chen Zhi.

Jia Gengquan (third-year student from Human Resource Management Programme) asked whether to opt for further studies at home or abroad. They hope the college can offer some lectures about post-graduate education in the Chinese mainland. To respond, Prof Chen Zhi promised that UIC would consider inviting some experienced teachers to share on this topic.

Prof Chen Zhi explained that there is no right-or-wrong situation choosing domestic or overseas studies. He thinks that being persistent and passionate is the key to achieving in one’s field.

Zhang Bowen (fourth-year student from Applied Economic Programme) suggested making a guide in a video or pamphlet on searching the bibliographic database. They also wish the Learning Resource Centre could keep expanding its collections. Prof Chen said that their concerns are now under consideration.
