UIC establishes provincial key lab

UIC's Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Research and Application for Data Science has been approved by the Guangdong Science and Technology Department.

The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Research and Application for Data Science, led by Prof Pan Jianxin, Dean of UIC's Division of Science and Technology, mainly focuses on multi-modal data processing in high-dimensional heterogeneous datasets and the big data application in healthcare.

The key Laboratory also contributes to the applications of financial risk management, smart city and more.

The key Laboratory brings together several top experts from various fields. Prof Tang Tao, UIC President and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as director of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory, and Prof Pan Jianxin, Dean of the Division of Science and Technology, serves as director of the Laboratory. 

Prof Pan Jianxin is an internationally renowned statistician. He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute and a Turing Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. He was a Chair Professor at the University of Manchester before joining UIC.

Oral defense team for the key Lab

UIC vigorously constructs research platforms and institutions such as the Research Centre for Mathematics, the Research Centre for History and Culture, the Centre for Evaluation Studies, etc. 

In addition, UIC gathers innovative resources from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and strives to conduct forward-looking scientific research in the Greater Bay Area's key development areas.
