Over 900 start graduate studies at UIC

The new semester begins, and over 900 new postgraduate students have kicked off their new study life at UIC this year.

UIC's Programme of Master of Arts in Communication has always been among the most popular choices for students, and five new students are invited to explain their affection for it.

Ye Qian'er graduated with her bachelor's degree from Peking University and has worked in the media industry for ten years.

"One can only stay competitive by learning continually," Ye said. Therefore, recommended by her colleague and attracted by UIC's international environment and professional faculty, she decided to take on the direction of Media Management Concentration.

Huang Ziyan gained her bachelor's degree from the University of Nottingham before being admitted by UIC.

Enthusiastic about the Chinese mainland's media industry, she decided to accumulate more knowledge on it from the angle of Communication Studies Concentration: "The programme offers lots of practical courses, meeting my demands very much."

Yuan Weiwei established her own media company after graduating from Jinan University, and now she is enrolled in the Communication Studies Concentration.

Feeling in need of more academic guidance, she chose to go back to campus and study again: "What attracts me are UIC's educational philosophy and management, which is modern and flexible."

The new postgraduate student Sui Zhiyu is admitted by the programme's Media Management Concentration, who also received offers from other elite schools like The University of Sydney and The University of Sheffield.

When asked why choosing UIC, Sui said: "It is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, which is highly recognised." Besides, he was excited by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhang Yudian is admitted by the same concentration as Sui at UIC after giving up offers from the University of Glasgow, the University of Southampton, etc.

Zhang said that UIC's strengths in Communication were eye-catching, and she was grateful for the school's Comprehensive Evaluation Admission (CEA) Examination, giving her more options for academic development.
