Dragon Boat Festival highlights: students in race

Led by the Director of the Whole Person Education Office (WPEO) Prof Guo Haipeng, WPEO Lecturer Mr Eric Tang and Junior Lecturer Mr Fang Wenze along with 25 UIC students participated in the 2019 Macao International Dragon Boat Races on 7 June.

 Students are eager to show themselves

Held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Center in Macao on 1, 2 and 7 June 2019, the event was jointly organised by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Macao China Dragon Boat Association.

Dragon boat teams from different countries and regions were also invited to Macao to participate in this sports event enriched with traditional features.

UIC’s dragon boat team participated in the 2019 Macao University Student Standard Dragon Boat Race, which is an Open Category for a distance of – 500 metres. The UIC team took 2 minutes and 33 seconds to complete this race, which is the best result since their training and won a prize of excellent team.

Students undertook two months of hard training to prepare for this race. Students found the time during the spare time to train for this race. Mr Fang Wenze said: “Participating in such a big dragon boat race is undoubtedly a great challenge for our students both mentally and physically. Mr Eric Tang and I agreed that our students showed their best in this race.”
