MoU signed with Stony Brook University

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UIC and US institute, Stony Brook University (SBU), on 19 April. The purpose of this MoU is to promote cooperation between UIC and SBU in exchange of students, faculty and staff; instructional and cultural programmes; academic degree programmes and researches.

Delegate from SBU was Vice President and Provost for Global Affairs, Dean of International Academic Programmes and Services, and Professor of Linguistics at SBU, Dr Liu Jun.

UIC President Prof Tang Tao; Associate Vice President Prof George Wei; Dean of the Division of Business and Management (DBM), Prof Stella Cho; Dean of the Division of Science and Technology (DST), Prof Stephen Chung; Dean of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS), Prof Mei-hwa Sung; Assistant Dean of the Division of Culture and Creativity (DCC), Dr Jiang Wei; Director of International Development Office (IDO), Dr Katharina Yu; Acting Director of the Academy of Continuing Education (ACE), Ms Isabella Li; as well as Assistant Director of IDO, Ms Li Mei represented UIC in the meeting held at Council Chamber.

Dr Katharina Yu introduced UIC’s background as well as some additonal basic information during the meeting. The two parties then discussed the areas where they could have possible cooperation including programmes, models and so on.

The meeting is attended by Dr Liu Jun and UIC’s senior management

Dr Liu Jun also gave a speech about the opportunities and challenges for UIC students to study in the US.
