Teens actively engaged in Open Day

UIC held an Open Day on 3 May involving enrolment consultation, mock classes and campus tours, which attracted more than 1,000 high school students and parents from Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and even Shanxi.

The campus open day was also live streamed and was viewed by an audience of over 170,000.

UIC President Prof Tang Tao is interviewed by media

At an information session, UIC President Prof Tang Tao addressed the parents and students, adding that UIC will keep introducing a higher level of teaching staff and developing students’ international views. Taking advantage of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, UIC will also promote innovation and entrepreneurship, high-tech research as well as boost cooperation with Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University.

President Tang speaks to a full house of audience

In 2019, UIC intends to enrol 1750 students across the Mainland China, of which 700 are being planned to be recruited from the Guangdong province. Admission in Guangdong is through the diversified models that UIC have implemented, which include the Comprehensive Evaluation System and the Early Phase of Admission.

Each academic programme set up a booth to provide on-site consultation, and each division launched mock classes for the high school students, allowing them to experience UIC’s teaching and learning environment beforehand. Meanwhile, UIC student volunteers toured the visitors around the campus.

“The internationalised education of UIC will be good to the further development of students, laying a foundation for their future employment and further education,” said Ms Sun, a parent who came from Shanxi to learn more about UIC. She was impressed by UIC’s Learning Resource Centre where there are plentiful modern learning resources and materials.

Visiting the facilities at UIC

Ms Chen from Guangzhou participated in the Open Day with her daughter. After listening to a mock class given by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, they were attracted by the engaging atmosphere and teaching approaches. “Through this experience, my desire to apply for UIC is even stronger,” said her daughter.
