A total of 16 different types of scholarships were presented to 617 recipients for the 2017-2018 Academic Year, which amounted to approximately 8.3 million yuan. The Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held on 27 November.

After the fantastic music performance by the students, President of UIC Prof Ng Ching-Fai congratulated all the recipients and encouraged them to become role models of UIC’s liberal arts education to inspire fellow students.
“We hope that you will not be satisfied with merely academic results,” Prof Ng added. “We hope that you will aim even higher in your moral standards and contributions to the community.”

This year, 64 students won the Admission Scholarships and 14 gained the Renewal of Admission Scholarships. Full Entrance Scholarships were awarded to 41 freshmen, doubling the number of students that had received the award the year before.

Three students were granted National Scholarships. In addition, the First Class Award was received by 110 students and the Second Class Award by 315.

Four mainland Chinese students and one Hong Kong student received the Mr and Mrs Cutrupia Scholarship, 20 received the Prof Xu Jialu Whole Person Education Award, and 12 received the Mr Fung Sun Kwan Scholarship of Excellence.
Five international students received the Guangdong Government Outstanding Foreign Student Scholarships.
