A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UIC and Lancaster University, UK, on 29 November. The MoU encourages direct contact and cooperation between partner institutions, and their students, faculty, and administrative staff for the purpose of study and research.

The delegation from Lancaster University consisted of Distinguished Professor of Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) as well as Director of Joint Institute for Environmental Research and Education-LEC-SCAU-GIG/CAS Prof Kevin Jones, and joining him were Office Manager of LEC China Office Ms Wang Jinghan and PhD student Mr Scott Lowther. UIC's International Development Office (IDO) were in charged of coordinating the visit for the delegation from Lancaster University.
