His talk to the UIC students consisted of giving the students an overview of the CFA Institute and the CFA programme, and also provided useful exam tips.

Achieving the title of CFA is a globally recognised charter and the programme itself promotes “The highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence.” Mr Ma continued with listing all of the benefits of having the certification of CFA and what it can offer, such as having unmatched expertise, career resources, and a strong ethical foundation, which Mr Ma says he values heavily.

Mr Ma explained that while the test itself can be difficult, the credibility this charter gives people is valuable in the workplace. Having a CFA certification “differentiates” employees from others, which is an extremely important in this competitive field of work.

The guest talk finished with a question and answer session, where Mr Ma used knowledge obtained from more than 15 years in a professional consulting firm. UIC student, Zhuang Ziruo asked an important question, regarding which certification would be best in what field, and several students after him asked similar questions regarding if their degree path would fit with the CFA title. Mr Ma explained that the CFA can help anyone in any field.
