Published on 15 September 2017

On 13 September, over 1,600 new students arrived at UIC to move into their dorms and prepare for registration. Coming from 30 different regions around mainland China, Hong Kong as well as South Korea, the student population is diverse. The students appeared to be excited and eager to start their courses as they were settling in. Their first learning experience is the English Enhancement Programme, a five day intensive English programme designed to help them adjust to the English learning environment at UIC.

Parents were also invited to the new campus. They attended the welcoming sessions and learned about the college at the Parents Forum, which was part of the practice of Four-Point Education linking the college, the students, the parents and society. UIC President, Prof Ng Ching-Fai gave welcoming remarks and answered any questions that the parents had.

One of the new students is Shen Danyang from Harbin. Thanks to her high achievement on the Gaokao (National College Entrance Exam), she has been admitted to UIC's Communications Programme on a Full Entrance Scholarship. Shen Danyang and her parents are very excited for her to start her study at UIC. They agree with UIC’s concept of Whole Person Education, and Shen Danyang looks forward to getting a well-rounded education through UIC’s unique programming. She believes that this kind of education will help her to become an efficient contributor to society. From watching UIC’s promotional videos, she learned that UIC is a very innovative university and she is excited to be able to study in this environment.
