Energy fighters vie for low consumption

On 29 September, the Energy Fighter 2016 Spring Award Ceremony awarded the top 20 student energy fighters.

The participants were from UIC’s New Cultural Village as well as the Student Hostels and Cultural Village. During the competition of the New Cultural Village, the average energy consumption of the top 10 energy fighters was 11 kWh. This consumption of energy was one fifth of the average energy consumption (50.6 kWh) of all the residents there.

The Student Hostels and Cultural Village’s top 10 energy fighters’ average energy consumption was 35.45 kWh, one third of the average energy consumption (99.9 kWh).

UIC Vice President Professor Zhang Cong, Coordinator of WPEO-EDC Dr Tsim Siu Tai, Associate Director of SAO Mr Li Junyang attended the ceremony and presented the awards.

Prof Zhang Cong spoke highly of the awarded students, adding that they had played an exemplary role in energy saving for the whole college.

The top three energy fighters shared their tips of saving energy. They hope that the competition would encourage all the students and staff to get involved in energy saving actions.

The competition was organised by WPEO and co-organised by ISO and SAO.
