UIC’s first Alumni Association representative meeting elected nine new executive members on 16 October. A total of 52 alumni took part in the vote, which resulted in Xie Che, a member of the Class of 2009 majoring in Finance, being elected as the new president.
Aiming to enhance the connection between the alumni and the college, as well as supporting the development of the alumni’s careers, the Alumni Association has been established for seven years since the first batch of graduates in 2009.

“After graduating from UIC, some students chose to job hunt in Hong Kong or somewhere else. It will be great if current students can get help from alumni and learn useful information when they haven’t got used to the new environment,” Xie Che said.
Mr Xie was the founder of the UIC SIFE (renamed Enactus later) and used to be president of the student union. Since graduating from UIC, he has been working in Hong Kong and is now Assistant Vice President of the Corporate Financing Department at China Construction Bank (Asia).

Xie Che, new president of the Alumni Association
Xie Che was happy about becoming the president, but also mentioned it was a big challenge for him. “I hope that with the development of UIC, the Alumni Association will increase its own influence, get more support from the alumni and connect with more of them,” he said.
At the early stage of the association, due to most alumni being busy building up their careers, a large part of activities were organised by the alumni section of the Four-Point Education Coordination Office. In 2013, Yang Daimin, a UIC graduate of 2011 from the then Culture Industry Management Programme, took on the presidency of the Alumni Association. Thanks to Mr Yang and his co-workers’ efforts, the association began to assume more responsibilities and expanded in a short time.
It has established several regional associations in different cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Hong Kong.
The Alumni Association has also developed a mobile app, which has similar functions to the app Secret. Only UIC students and graduates are permitted to enter this platform to exchange useful information and communicate with each other. With a variety of new measures, Xie Che expects the Alumni Association to grow and mature.
