A further collaborative agreement on establishing a big data laboratory was signed by UIC and China United Network Communications Co., Ltd, Zhuhai (China Unicom) on 19 October.
The cooperation was to make full use of UIC’s learning, research and industrial resources, as well as work together in the fields of China Unicom’s services. This included big data, the Internet data centre, cloud computing, the Internet of things, mobile communication information collection, in addition to Internet Plus.
UIC President Ng Ching-Fai said the laboratory would provide a new platform for the college’s research activities and boost them to a higher level. The students could also benefit from its internship opportunities with hands-on experience.
