
UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai announced that the College teamed up with the Zhuhai Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to set up the Zhuhai Innovative Cultural and Creative Industry Research Institute (ZHICCI) at the signing and opening ceremony on 9 March.
He and Director General of the Bureau Ms Wang Lingping signed an agreement and unveiled the plaque of the ZHICCI.

According to President Ng, the Institute aims to integrate professional resources and expertise from both national and international perspectives, and to foster the development of the cultural industry in Zhuhai.
It will conduct interdisciplinary research on culture, art, film, media, tourism, advertising, exhibition, design and more. Also, it will provide advice and services to the cultural industry and the local government.
President Ng expressed his appreciation for the government’s support and trust to choose UIC as a partner, revealing that a White Paper on “Zhuhai 2015 Cultural and Creative Industry” is under preparation by the ZHICCI.

Established after nearly ten months of preparation, the Institute will cooperate with UIC’s film and television base and offer creative cultural projects that involve hands-on practice for UIC students.
With President Ng being president of the Institute, Associate Dean of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS) Prof Evelyn Mai serves as Director, while Wang Hengsheng, the head of the Industry Planning and Development Section of Zhuhai Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, takes up the post as Associate Director.
The ceremony was attended by General Manager of Zhuhai Yehan Media Ye Jianjun, founder of the No 9 Warehouse of Zhuhai Artists Li Weinian, founder of Zhuhai Beishan East-West Cultural Hub Xue Jun, guests from the Zhuhai Cultural Industry Association, and top executives of UIC.
