
Students and staff took an active part in UIC’s ninth sports day on 26 November. The sports meeting included 18 individual events, six team events and five fun events. Additionally, 50 MCP (Mentor Caring Programme) teams joined this year, more than any time before.
“The sports day brings students and staff together,” said UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai at the opening ceremony. “Let us forget our worries and pressure and enjoy the warmth and harmony of our UIC family.”
During the sports day, two new records were set. Accounting student Yuan Junjie broke the record of the men’s 800 metres by 2’08”. Finance student Liu Chen raised the men’s 5000 metres record to 18’13”.
At the end of the day, the Finance Programme was the overall champion as well as topping individual competition events. Also, the Finance Programme and the Management of Human Resources Programme tied for first place in team events.
The Best Cheerleading Group went to the Social Work and Social Administration Programme, and the Best Programme Parade to the Cinema and Television Programme.
