The UIC Entrepreneurial Base and Joint UIC-Industry Projects was launched in Block One of the New Cultural Village on 27 August.
Established by the UIC Food Innovation Centre and the Nature Dream House, this entrepreneurial base aims to provide students with internship and start-up businesses opportunities.

Unveiling the base were Vice Presidents Prof Zee Sze-Yong, Prof Zhang Cong, chairman of the Cha Express company and general manager of the Nature Dream House Huang Yun, and vice general manager of Cha Express Wang Qian.
Mr Huang graduated from UIC’s Applied Economics Programme in 2010, and Mr Wang is a member of the class of 2010 with a degree in Statistics.
Opened on that day, the Nature Dream House is a brand new coffee shop, assisting UIC students in initiating entrepreneurial activities. It will sponsor the UIC Food Innovation Centre with its profits to undertake research and education projects. Meanwhile, the Centre will develop different kinds of food and beverages for the café.

Huang Yun said in his address that he was grateful to UIC’s education, which encourages innovative ideas and critical thinking. He has set up more than 110 cafés and tea shops all over China and has extended his business to the US as well.
Prof Zee Sze Yong was glad to see Huang Yun and other alumni giving back to the college in their own ways, adding that the establishment of the base echoed the national initiative of mass entrepreneurship and innovation.
