Freshmen enthused by English learning during EEP

Published on 22 September 2015

The English Language Centre completed the four-day English Enhancement Programme (EEP) in the New Cultural Village for over 1400 freshmen on 8 September.

To help new students adapt to the English teaching environment, the EEP is one of the first programmes new students will take after coming to UIC. It focuses on improving the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, in addition to enabling the students to get to know Zhuhai and how the Learning Resource Centre can support their study.

Student of the Contemporary English Language and Literature Programme Qiu remarked that she had never known an English class could be so interesting.

“The EEP gave me a primary impression of UIC’s English-speaking environment. We practiced English by communicating with teachers and classmates. The classes were practical and the activities were interesting,” she said.

Yu from the International Journalism Programme added: “The teachers were humorous. They gave us a lot of advice in those informative and entertaining classes. I also liked group discussions which in some way helped us to make friends.”
