A team of five UIC students won a silver award at the 5th China University Students PR Plan Contest on 25 September.

Prior to this award, they received the national first prize for the three-round preliminaries in early September and thus qualified for the final showdown in Zhejiang against other 15 teams.

Organised by the China International Public Relations Association, the contest is the only national-wide public relations plan contest for university students held every two years. The theme was “Creative PR in New Media Age” and it received more than 700 entries from universities across China.

This was the first time UIC students participated in this contest. The award-winning team consisted of five people: team leader Zhang Xinyu (Year 4, PRA), Wu Yunxuan (Year 3, PRA), Zhao Zhengyun (Year 3, PRA), Ma Anmiao (Year 4, MHR) and Tian Dazhuang (Year 4, ATS). Their advisors were the Public Relations and Advertising Programme’s Director Dr Hu Fan and Senior Lecturer Cody Qian.

Zhang Xinyu said: “We have improved our professional knowledge and became more confident through constant practice. Throughout the competition we gained a deep understanding of teamwork, persistence, consolidation and dedication.”
