BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC) is holding an International Postgraduate Information Fair, which has been held for the past 5 years. Universities from overseas are invited and encouraged to participate in this fair as a way to promote their courses and attract talented students from UIC.
The 5th International Postgraduate Information Fair that was held in 2014 at UIC had 22 participating universities from 8 countries and regions of the USA, Switzerland, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, France and New Zealand. Around 30 guests from 15 programmes of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) participated in the Fair.
This year, there will be a Welcome Dinner buffet for the participating universities that will feature students from UIC putting on a performance to entertain the guests. Last year's Fair not only attracted a vast number of students and parents but also gained wide media coverage, which UIC hopes to repeat this year. This year will have several seminars by the participating universities so potential postgraduate students will get a better understanding of the university, courses and environment.
The date for this event is on Friday 30th October at 9am with registration for the participating universities and will last until 1pm on Saturday 31st October.
UIC's Graduate Survey statistics show that more than 50% of their graduates were enrolled in postgraduate studies in Hong Kong and overseas countries in the past three years. This is evidence that the English communication skill of UIC's graduates meet the English language requirement of postgraduate programmes in oversea universities.
The reason for this Fair is to provide support for UIC's students who are interested to pursue further studies; UIC has been organizing International Postgraduate Information Fairs for the past five years. Other target visitors are students from neighbouring universities in Zhuhai who would like to pursue further study. Also the Fair aims to provide information for the general public who are interested in seeking education opportunities for their children, friends and relatives. In addition, professionals working for international education exchange programmes and academic professionals working at higher education institutions will be encouraged to visit this Fair.
Last year, a total of 22 higher education institutions from 8 countries and regions participated in the Fair, attracting approximately 700 visitors including students, parents and adult learners from Zhuhai and nearby cities.
