External advisors counselled UIC’s Division of Business and Management (DBM) at the fourth meeting of its Advisory Committee on 9 December.
Presided over by Committee Chairman Lui Tim Leung, Senior Advisor of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the meeting discussed the Division’s growth in the past year, the suggestions received from the fifth Institutional Review by Hong Kong Baptist University, internships and minor programmes.
UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai told the advisors that a new academic division of culture, art and music is to be established on UIC’s new campus, and a series of high-level lectures, seminars and other activities will be organised for UIC’s coming tenth anniversary.
Members of the Committee discussed the Institutional Review result, which shows an endorsement of the Division’s effort to enhance students’ summer programme experience and to align programme intended learning outcomes with Graduate Attributes.
Convener and Dean of DBM Prof Stella Cho then reported how the Division has developed research work and internship opportunities for students, and highlighted their remarkable performances at the national accounting Qualification Programme Case Analysis Competition 2014.
The College will launch its first minor programme in music next semester, and DBM is designing Finance, Business and Marketing minors.

The external members present included Carrie Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers; Eric Tang, Partner of Deloitte; Gang Luo, Chairman of the Hong Kong Baptist University MBA (China) Alumni Association; and Jingdong Wang, Vice-President, CFO and Board Secretary of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai.
The internal members were Dr Anthony Tsui, Acting Associate Dean of DBM; and Dr Herman Tan, Programme Director of the Management of Human Resources. Dr May Wang, Programme Director of Applied Economics, served as Secretary.
