This year the competition received 349 entries from Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China and Malaysia. It was the first time a CTV student took part and harvested the Golden Award.

Established by the Taiwan Corporation Grassroots Influence of Cultural and Educational Foundation, the Competition was supported by YouTube, Shih Hsin University, National Taiwan University of Arts, the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art (mainland), Youku, Iqiyi and others, with a judging panel of influential professionals.

In Dream of Love, a young pianist suddenly loses his passion for music without knowing why. He then sees a dim figure that seems both familiar and strange to him, and is attracted to follow it.

“The half real, half imaginary figure represents a saviour appearing when one has lost hope and is desperate for help,” director Liu Yixuan explains, adding that his knowledge of orchestral music was of help for choosing the music and fine-tuning the sound of the micro-movie.

Judge Liu Xilei praises Dream of Love highly for its success in character development, which is often neglected by production groups, and says that it is rare to find a student like Liu who plays at the same time the role of director, screenwriter and the exit song producer.
