UIC’s 8th Sports Day on 27 November attracted a record of 700 participants. Students and staff took part in 17 individual events, six mixed events and six fun events, and for the first time MCP (Mentor Caring Programme) teams joined. |

UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai said the sports meeting was there for students to enjoy campus life and reinforce their relationship with the teachers. |

The Best Programme Parade and the Best Cheerleading Group winner, the Cinema and Television Programme, marched on the sports ground at the opening ceremony. |

Nunchaku martial arts and lion dance performances were displayed in the opening. |

Contenders gave their all during the 100 metres sprint, the 5000 metres race, the long jump, the high jump, the 4×100 metres relay, 20-people-21-feet and other events. New records of shot put events were set: Food Science and Technology student Liu Yanchang broke the men’s by 10.46 metres, Accounting student Pang Yaqi broke the women’s by 8.71 metres, and Facilitator of Whole Person Education Office Robby Ba broke the staff’s by 10.65 metres. |

The Accounting Programme acquired the highest overall scores and won the biggest award, the Programme Shield. |
