UIC graduate awarded at Beijing College Student Film Festival

LC3LU Chuan (middle) receives Best Drama Director Award

UIC graduate LU Chuan was recently awarded Best Drama Director of the College Student Original Film Competition at the 21st Beijing College Student Film Festival on 4 May. His film, entitled Floating Island, was also nominated in six other categories.

LU Chuan is from the first graduating cohort in the Cinema and Television Programme. His UIC graduation film, a promotional video called Grow with UIC, was quite popular with students and staff and was widely used in recruitment efforts.

After one year’s work on a feature film script in Hong Kong, he pursued his Master of Fine Arts (Film, TV and Digital Media) degree at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). While a student there, he was awarded a production scholarship two times. His graduation film, Figure of Buddha, received a merit-based funding scholarship and went on to represent HKBU in an academic exchange with peer universities in Taiwan and Korea.

The film is currently being submitted to festivals at home and abroad.
