The Division of Business and Management (DBM) at UIC renewed the QP (Qualification Programme) Resource Centre Cooperation Agreement with the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) at a Signing Ceremony on 25 April.

Dean of DBM Prof Stella Cho said, “Since its inception [in 2012], the QP Resource Centre has been providing various resources and support to those students who wish to explore the accounting profession and the career path to become a CPA.”

Prof Stella Cho says the Centre promotes accounting education and training in Zhuhai and the Pearl River Delta
President of the HKICPA Clement Chan noted that the success of the Centre in the first two years led to a cooperation agreement renewal. “The Centre has played a major role in the cultivation of academic and professional educators for accounting talent,” he said.

The QP Resource Centre at UIC is sponsored with HKD300,000 by the HKICPA
UIC’s DBM and the HKICPA started their partnership in 2009, when UIC’s Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Accounting Programme was accredited as the first qualified accounting programme recognised by the HKICPA in mainland China. Since 2011, a Professional Accountancy Conversion Programme for non-accounting and non-business students has been accredited by the HKICPA and offered at UIC.
At the Ceremony, eleven new QP Advisors were appointed to advise students on QP examinations and the CPA career path.

DBM students’ assiduity and excellence have brought them continuous academic achievements. For example, DBM students have won three titles and other top awards at the national QP Case Analysis Competition in the past five years. Besides, six UIC graduates have passed all the HKICPA QP module examinations, which brings them a step closer toward becoming a CPA.
