UIC and China Everbright Bank Guangzhou establish an internship base

UIC signed an Internship Cooperation Agreement with China Everbright Bank Guangzhou Branch (CEB Guangzhou) on 27 May.

They will develop fields of learning, education, finance and talents to strengthen their cooperation. CEB Guangzhou will provide internship opportunities during the summer holidays for UIC students.

In his address President Prof Ng Ching-Fai said UIC’s emphasis on theory and practice fosters graduates to spur social and economic development. Internships are beneficial for students as they get the chance to apply the knowledge they have gained in the classroom in a real world professional practice.

President of CEB Guangzhou Chen Kaihui said that, in pursuit of economic growth of Guangdong Province, the bank will need excellent UIC graduates to reach this goal. In addition to offering internships, UIC faculty members will train the bank's employees.

Dean of the Division of Business and Management Prof Stella Cho revealed that UIC is considering introducing courses of finance and wealth management from Hong Kong. Also, CEB Guangzhou and UIC are seeking to widen and further their partnership.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by deputy mayor of Zhuhai Pan Ming; president of CEB Zhuhai Branch Liu Yan; CEB Guangzhou’s vice general manager of the human resources department Cai Shaomin, vice general manager of the branch business department Deng Yuhui, vice manager of the training centre Gao Zhiyu; UIC’s Vice President Prof Zhang Cong, Managing Director for Financial Planning and Development Mr Nelson Chan, Director of Four Point Education Coordination Office Mr Vincent Wong; and many other guests.
