“All participants have great confidence, and their ideas are presented effectively,” said judge Philip Mulder from the English Language Centre at the final of the Second Pre in English Presentation Competition on 7 November.

“This activity is meaningful for giving UIC students a competitive platform to present their English skills and improve their confidence,” he added.

Five individuals and three groups contended for the final after a two-round elimination. The final was divided into three parts: a self-introduction, a talent show, and a presentation plus impromptu speech.

Dressed up formally, the participants demonstrated their brilliant English skills in a limited time on stage.

Year Two Finance student Zhang Jiale won the individual first prize and the International Journalism (IJ) Team took the group championship. Year One student Zhong Zhihao from the IJ Team said after the contest: “I like speaking English all the time. Although we are busy studying, I have spent a lot of time with the team for this competition, because it was very gratifying.”
