Visitors from Hong Kong Baptist University with UIC leadership
The newly-appointed Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Council members applauded UIC’s Whole Person Education during their trip to UIC on 12 October, before they attended the launch of UIC’s Research Development Centre and Education Foundation in Hengqin.
It was the first time for Mrs Pamela Chan, Deputy Chairman of the HKBU Council, and Mrs Doreen Chan, Treasurer, to visit UIC, together with other Council members including Ms Rosanna Choi; Mr Andy Lee, Vice-President and Secretary; and Prof. Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine; and directors and officers including Ms Sarah Wong, Ms Rosalind Chan and Miss Judy Hui.
Prof. Ng Ching-Fai, President of UIC, extended a warm welcome message to the visitors at a lunch. “UIC practises Whole Person Education, which HKBU also upholds, and this aims to diversify China’s tertiary education by promoting a Liberal Arts Education. I hope through today’s tour you will have a good understanding of UIC,” he said.

The guests received early insight into the College through a presentation by Prof. Zee Sze-Yong, Vice President of UIC, and from discussions with the College’s leadership, deans and directors of teaching units. They also learned about the eligible design schemes of UIC’s new campus to get an overview of its future physical development.

They showed great interest in and admiration for UIC’s Whole Person Education modules.
Highlights also featured a face-to-face dialogue with UIC students, where visitors spoke to the students about their study, life and career planning and also made suggestions.
After the campus tour, the HKBU Council members attended the opening of the UIC Hengqin Research Development Centre and the UIC Education Foundation in Hengqin New Area which marks another milestone in UIC’s development.
