UIC’s 2012
Fulbright Lecture Series on American Identity was completed on May 10.
This year, there
are 14 Fulbright scholars, including Prof. Amy Werbel (Saint Michael's
College), Dr. Daniel Meissner (Marquette University), Prof. Melissa Fitch
(University of Arizona), Prof. Susan Fiksdal, Prof. Reza Hoshmand(Hong Kong
Baptist University), Prof. William Shaw (University of Hong Kong) and other
lecturers and researchers at in various aspects of American studies. UIC will
continue the partnership with Fulbright and will explore as many research
programs and educational resources as possible.
The last lecture
was conducted by Professor Monica Chiu from the University of New Hampshire.
She said Fulbright Program offers the opportunity to practice what she always
encourage among all of her students, and to exchange ideas and papers with
faculties from UIC.
To
increase mutual understanding and promote leadership development through
learning and global cooperation, the Fulbright Program is the flagship
international educational exchange program sponsored by the United States
Government since 1946. The U.S.-China Fulbright Program was the first in the world. UIC has been offering the Fulbright American Identities course as a General Education Elective (GEE) course, run by the Government and International Relations (GIR) Programme, every year since 2010.
