UIC celebrated the achievements of 1,017 seniors with a graduation ceremony on June 24.

The students have recently completed their degree studies, many of them in International Journalism, Accounting, Environmental Science and some other 11 programmes.

The graduation ceremony was attended by 623 students and over 2,000 teaching and administrative staff, friends and families from around China.
The ceremony was presided over by Chairman of UIC Council Prof. Xu Jialu (middle).

In audience were four new UIC four Honorary Fellows, officials from Zhuhai and representatives from Beijing Normal University Zhuhai and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).
The event was streamed live online so that students, family and friends, far and wide could watch.

The guest speaker at the event was Dr. Edgar Cheng, one of the Honorary Fellows.

“I hope that each of you will have learned here, at UIC, that you will be more effective at whatever you do if you have values. The exploration of values is a lifetime project, but it is a project where the returns will match he effort you put into.” Dr. Cheng said.

In his address, President Ng Ching Fai said: 
“You are now quite different from what you were four years ago. Now you are confident of your skills and abilities, ready and equipped to face the challenges ahead. On the basis of a liberal arts curriculum, the idea of whole person education, and encouragement to think critically, you have each arrived at a new level of self-understanding and self-empowerment, and you should be congratulated for that.”

Graduates will attend HKBU’s graduation ceremony in November to be awarded their degrees.
