Japanese Artists from Town of Craftsman Visited UIC

Government representatives and artists from Minakami in Guma Japan visited UIC on Nov 2. They held an artistic experience activity with UIC students.

President Ng Gave Welcome Speech

A cooperation agreement between UIC and Minakami was signed in September 2010. Both sides undertook to carry out extensive cooperation in education, culture, sports, arts and tourism. To mark the anniversary of the agreement, Japanese artists of traditional handwork came to UIC to communicate with Chinese students.

President Ng. and Mr. Kawai Okihiro Exchanged Souvenirs

Prof. Ng Ching-Fai, the President of UIC, made a warm welcome speech, expressing cordial acknowledgment to the visitors. Prof. Ng said this is a good opportunity for UIC students to know more about traditional Japanese culture. He hopes the cooperation between UIC and Minakami would promote China-Japan friendship, and looks forward to further cultural exchange with Minakami.

Japanese Song Performance

Mr. Kawai Okihiro, the representatives of Minakami government and Japanese artist, reviewed the cooperation history between UIC and Minakami, and delivered his appreciation and best wishes to UIC teachers and students.

Handcrafting Activity

 

Students from Japanese course performance a Japanese song to show their welcome for the foreign visitors. After that, President Ng and Mr. Kawai Okihiro exchanged souvenirs and took photos together.

Handcrafting Activity

 

More than 15 UIC students participated in the handcrafting activity. The artists showed the process of making traditional straw sandals and fabrics jewel cases, and guided the students to make their own works. The artists also showed their art works, students got fully appreciate of the traditional handmade art.
