October 20, 2010, KPMG (China) gave a career talk to UIC students, introducing KPMG, one of the Big Four accounting firms in the world, to encourage more capable students join in.
Professor Stella CHO, Dean of DBM welcomed the KPMG guests as the organizer of this event. Later, Marie LEE, one of the partners of KPMG in audit, gave a presentation about KPMG. KPMG has 13 firms in China, 12 exclusively in the Asian-Pacific region, which provides audit, tax and advisory service to all kinds of companies and organizations, including PHILIPS, BANDAI, WALMART, HKBU and STANDARD CHARTERED, etc. Furthermore, it has become the exclusive supplier of accounting advisory services to the Guangzhou Asian Games.
Martin, a UIC graduate who is now working for the KPMG Audit Department, shared his experience about work. He said that with the diverse works, he had learnt a lot, such as the work flow of products. What's more, in KPMG, he has a clear career plan for development.
This year, KPMG is going to enroll 1,300-1,400 graduates who are equipped with good personalities such as passion and the teamwork spirit. The application procedure takes three phases: online application, professional test, and interview. KPMG accepts student not only from Accounting major, but from other majors as well, as Marie Lee said: "We respect the individual and differences".
