In the afternoon of November 21, Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns, Consul General of the German Consulate General in Guangzhou, visited UIC. In the classroom B302, he delivered a wonderful speech for students.
Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns was appointed to the German Consulate General in Guangzhou as Consul General after working in German embassies in other countries. He devotes most of his time to international cultural exchange and communication. His speech at UIC today was about current state and future trends of the media industry in Germany.
Mr. Friedrich-Carl Brun attracted the attention of the students with a humorous opening. During the 45-minute lecture, he explored a wide range of topics related to the media industry in Germany. He talked about the television, radio, newspapers and several major websites in Germany. He cited a table to show the ranking of the most popular German media institutions and their market share. He introduced to students the magazine Der Spiege, one of the most popular German magazines with a circulation of more than one million. Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns also made a macro-market analysis to the media industry in Germany based on the market data of previous years.
Students showed great interest to the lecture. They eagerly asked questions regarding the obstacles in the development of the media industry, and the promotion of sino-Germany media exchange. Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns patiently answered all the questions.
Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns was impressed by the performance of the UIC students. After the meeting, he told the reporter that he would be glad to see the Chinese media find ways to conquer the obstacle in language and keep pace with the rest of the world in media and communication development.
Mr. Friedrich-Carl Bruns' visit was not only an opportunity for the UIC students to keep track of the latest development of the global media industry, but also a promotion for the internationalization of UIC.
