Oct. 29 – Lead by Vice President Yan Zhirong, the Taiwan I-Shou University Delegation visited UIC today and had a negotiation with UIC Executive Vice President Prof. Kwok Xiu Tong on the academic cooperation between the two institutions.
I-Shou University was founded by Mr. Lin I-Shou, Chairman of the I-Lien Group. According to Vice President Yan, I-Shou University has already developed cooperation relations with 18 universities in Mainland China, including Nankai University, Wuhan University, Nanjing University and Xiamen University. Currently, there are 46 Mainland students in I-Shou University for students exchange programs.

I-Shou University is an international university that distinguishes itself from other Taiwan universities with its unique educational approach. The University invests in local manufacturing and closely collaborates with corporations to provide more internship opportunities for students. President Yan said at the meeting that they attached great importance to the Whole Person Education concept at UIC. They considered it a great educational concept that well meets the need in Mainland China to foster “whole person”.
Prof. Kwok of UIC considered the cooperation with I-Shou University an impetus for both institutions, and to President Yan, the international cooperation relations UIC had developed with colleges and universities all over the world might help to bring along international development to I-Shou University.
After negotiation, President Yan said the academic cooperation program between the two institutions will hopefully launch in August. There will be many opportunities for students and teachers to have academic exchange by then. I-Shou University and UIC have many similarities in education philosophy. The cooperation can sure to bring mutual benefit to both institutions.
