Delegates from University of Edinburgh visit UIC

A delegation led by Prof. Geoffrey Boulton, Vice -President of the University of Edinburgh, UK visited UIC on Nov. 1.

The friendship between Zhuhai and the University of Edinburgh has long been established. Mr. Huang Kuan, the first Chinese student from Zhuhai to study in Europe, graduated from the University of Edinburgh. The delegation was in Zhuhai mainly for a discussion with the Zhuhai Government about setting up a "University of Edinburgh - Huang Kuan Scholarship". The delegation also expressed cooperation intention with Zhuhai in higher education.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Zhang Cong, Associate Vice-President of UIC. Dr, Zhang made a detailed introduction to the founding background and education philosophy of UIC. He said that as an international college, UIC attached great importance to the development of international academic exchange and collaboration.

Prof. Boulton was impressed by the achievement of UIC. He emphasized that in the global era, cultural communication, especially international communication, is important in the way of learning from each other for mutual development. The University of Edinburgh was willing and able to strengthen its connection with universities in China. Both the University of Edinburgh and UIC hoped they could cooperate in student and academic exchange in future.
