The recent establishment of the UIC Four Points Education Office signaled that the regular activities of Four Points Education will be in full sail.
Four Points Education is a whole new education model originated at UIC. With students as the core, the model will make full use of the resources and support from the college, the society and the student families. It will foster interaction and cooperation among the “four points” to facilitate the healthy growth of the students, and provide high quality education service to the country and the society. UIC holds that higher education is a responsibility not only of the colleges, but also of the families and the society. This was the origin and tenet for UIC to develop the Four Points Education model.
UIC has organized activities such as Four Points Carnival and Parent Sodality to develop the model. The Parent Forum to be held on Sep 3 at the arrival of the new students is another innovation to put the concept into practice.
The Parent Forum will enhance the communication and exchange between the college and the parents by inviting parents to seminars and informal discussions. The eventual target of the forum is to develop an education system with the college, family and society being “three-in-one”. Through mutual efforts of the college and the parents, an interactive “Four Points” network can be built all over China. The network will consist of several regional networks that built according to the geographic distribution of the parents. The forum will also appoint parent advisors to help with its development. According to recent schedule, the Parent Forum will be held annually.
According to the Four Points Education Office, there has been a flood of phone calls and letters from the parents since the invitations to the first Parent Forum were sent out. The 400 application quotas were fully booked within 10 days. By the time this report is writing, phone calls are still coming in for inquiries on the event.
On Sep 3 and Sep 4, Certificate of Appointments will be granted at the forum to parents who are elected as advisors. These advisors will become a pioneering power in the promotion of the Four Point Education concept.
