Successful Enrollment in 2007

Published on 30 August 2007

This year, UIC enrolled students from 16 provinces all over Mainland China. The number of provinces has doubled that of last year. The total enrollment was 801 students, successfully fulfilling the year’s target. Meanwhile, the enrollment in Hong Kong and Macau also greatly expanded.

UIC has heightened its admission requirement this year. Because of the strict admission control by the education authority, it is rare among colleges in Mainland China to heighten admitssion requirements just two years after establishment. The move clearly shows that the teaching quality of UIC is widely recognized.

UIC persisted in its international perspective in this year’s student admission. There were 37 students that enrolled in Hong Kong, including 4 from the UK, France and Algeria. There were also 6 exchange students from Korea.

UIC will develop into a small but concentrative liberal arts college with an eventual target enrollment of 4500 students. The enrollment for each year will be controlled at around 1000 students. As an international college with English as the language of instruction, international enrollment is one of UIC’s targets. UIC will ensure that 200 enrollment spots are preserved for students from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and abroad each year. The preserved spots will increase gradually in future.
