Published on 8 June 2007

June 2, 2007. Eight students from the UIC Drama Club, Ben, Cloud, Dean, Elvis, Kristy, JoJo, Roseanne, and Sunny, took part in a drama competition in Beijing Normal University and won the 1st place as awarded by the jury, the 1st place as awarded by the audience, and also the award for Best Idea/Creativity.

The competition was organized by the English Society of BNU and aimed to enhance students’ English proficiency. The judges of the competition included teachers and student representatives from BNU as well as the President of the UIC English Society.

The piece that the Drama Club performed was the Magical Chairs. It captures people’s different reactions to the magic of the chairs to reveal the human selfishness, and tell the audience that kindness is a power that can conquer anything, even magic. The wonderful performance, the creativity and the meaningful implication beat another 11 teams from BNU.

The drama scrip was translated into English by the students and they had rehearsed only for a short period of time. Congratulations to the Drama Club and we hope they can bring us more wonderful performance in future.
