On the morning of 3rd December 2006, about 80 people from the Senior Staff Committee of Hong Kong University came and visited UIC.
The Senior Staff Committee is an important Labor Union of HKU, made up mainly by the senior staff from different levels of that university. It was the first time for this committee to send a group to visit mainland China, the group forming the backbone of the committee.
The Acting Dean of the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Paul Hockings, along with the Deputy Director of the Academic Registry, Dr. Ricky Hou, Dr. Kevin Zhen from the Division of Business Administration and Management, and Ms. Ada Yu from the Secretariat Office, together received the visitors. Prof. Hockings introduced the background and key features of UIC at the presentation afterward. The visitors were all impressed by their short visit here and stated that UIC has created a new teaching mode as the first university created jointly by universities from Hong Kong and mainland China.
The visitors looked around the campus with staff from UIC after the presentation, to better understand the unique cultural and educational atmosphere of UIC. They also expressed their appreciation for the kind reception they had got here.
